Waterman traditionally uses a heavy brass barrel on the body of every fountain pen. It's a deep black lacquer ring on a brass barrel that you can't see in the resin, showing a dark color and gloss.

This is a more elegant product than a regular lacquer cap, and the 23K gold ring and clip with WATERMAN PARIS engraved in an intaglio are gorgeous and firmly fixed, making it more functional.
